Children are so great. They are so genuine and uninhibited, and they also grow up so quickly! The Allchurch family knew this all too well, with little Hayley just taking after her sister. Their beautiful connection was something the parents wanted to capture for them to look back on.

Did you know that many Sydney families go through their lives without having any professional family photography? People worry that you ‘cannot take good photos’ of their daughter, or that she ‘will not cooperate’ with the camera. While this may be true as a parent with a phone camera, it’s completely different for a professional photographer. We have special ways to get the beautiful shot you see. It’s not about forcing kids to do what you want, but understanding them, and being able to capture them authentically. You don’t hire a family photographer to rent their camera for an hour, you hire them to create and capture something magical that is worth looking back on for years to come.

For the Allchurch family we went to Little Bay Beach for the nice morning sun. It was a slightly cool day so there weren’t many people around. A couple of divers and fishermen and a few other families. The light was beautiful and the clear skies made for a beautiful backdrop.

This family had the same initial concerns at the start. That she wouldn’t be cooperative, and that it would be a chore to get everyone down to the beach, that maybe we’d only end up with a few good shots of the baby. Well certainly you can’t just put a child on a beach and ask them to perform for the camera. But after a short while getting to know each other, the kids opened up and in no time we were having great fun.

We played some different games, explored different areas of the beach, and climbed some trees! Time passed and the fabulous results you see here were exactly what we wanted. The beautiful relationship between the sisters will be treasured for years. It’s these little moments, unposed, natural, that they will look back at fondly when they grow up.
